Asia-Pacific finalists selected for the Global Finale of the Diplomático World Tournament
The Asia-Pacific region has selected its finalists for the last round of the Diplomático World Tournament: Hisatsugu Saito, from Trench Bar in Tokyo, Japan; Peter Chua from Crackerjack Bar in Singapore; and Cameron Pirret from Seymour’s Cocktails & Oysters Bar in Brisbane, Australia.
In a very tight competition between bartenders from diverse Asian-Pacific countries such as: Japan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand; the semi-finals of this region took place last May in Bangkok, during two days. The event’s agenda included professional and recreational activities in which the semi-finalists had the opportunity to prove once again their abilities and creativity behind the bar.
The first-day activity took place at Micky’s Bar, where the bartenders shined with the preparation of a cocktail made with Diplomático Mantuano. The second round was at Revolución Bar with the creation of a cocktail with Diplomático’s Flagship rum, Reserva Exclusiva. The final event took place in Zuma, considered one of the best bars in Bangkok. They announced the winners, and also enjoyed the three-wheeled motorized vehicles “Tuk Tuk.”
The judging panel for this phase of the Asia-Pacific classification was composed by David Córdoba, Portfolio Director of Proof & Company in Singapore; Niks Anuman, from the bar “Teens of Thailand” Bar in Bangkok; and Stanislav Vadrna, the respected mixologist from Analog Bartending Institute.
Hisatsugu Saito, Peter Chua and Cameron Pirret, are now preparing to compete at the Diplomático World Tournament Global Finale, which will take place on June 25th in London. To see the Videos and photos of the event, please visit the Facebook page for the tournament !
