Bert Beagley-Brown is the new British Diplomat of the 2017 campaign
Diplomático, in collaboration with the magazine Foodism UK selected their new Diplomat: Bert Beagley-Brown. Having a varied list of candidates to choose from, he stood out. The founder of a renowned brand of knives, Beagley-Brown also held the necessary characteristics to be a new representative of the values of the Diplomático brand because of his inspiring story, his renown skills and impressive dedication to his work.
Bert argues that his source of inspiration was a trip to Japan; this is where he decided to make steel his passion. After his practical experience in a cutlery family-owned company, he began to design and produce a range of knives for chefs of excellent quality called TOG, a brand that quickly became a household name among renowned chefs, and also desired in homes everywhere.
Jon Lister, Diplomático’s ambassador in Europe, created a cocktail according to Bert’s personality. He chose to associate Japanese flavors in this drink, using sake and whiskey, as well as a little vermouth, to enhance the rich aromatic profile of the Diplomático’s Reserva Exclusiva. This cocktail is served in a glass or a cup of sake, adding a sliced plum, slightly burned with a blowtorch to provide the well-defined final touch.
Jon Lister named the Cocktail “Masamune” after Priest Gorō Masamune, who is considered Japan’s greatest .
