Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva awarded two prestigious scores this spring
Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva was awarded the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the competition’s highest honor. Held on March 17-20 at Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco, more than 1,850 spirits were judged, the largest in the competition’s 16-year history. Judges included industry luminaries Anthony Dias Blue, Tony Abou-Ganim, Charles Joly, David Wondrich, Charlotte Voisey and Dale DeGroff. Diplomático and other top medal winners will be featured in the May 2016 issue of The Tasting Panel Magazine.
Diplomático’s flagship rum also took home a high score of 92 at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge. The competition, now in its seventh year, is highly regarded in the United States as one of the most selective and well-run spirits competitions. Led by Chairman Judge F. Paul Pacult, the panel is comprised of 21 key influencers in the spirits industry, including award-winning buyers, educators and mixologists. Judges concentrate on the aroma, color, taste and texture of each spirit, both neat and in a category-appropriate cocktail. To ensure that each spirit received equal attention from judges, a course of four tasting sessions was held for every entry.
