Diplomático World Tournament 2017 Semifinalists travel to Venezuela
Diplomático started the year 2018 by receiving the winning bartenders of the Diplomático World Tournament (DWT) semifinals, at its hometown in Venezuela. The guests had the opportunity to visit the distillery where Diplomático rum is produced and discover the local culture and traditions.
The visit was organized in two groups that gathered more than 50 people: Asia and Americas representatives were the first group to attend, from January 16 to 21; followed by the European group, from January 30 to February 4. In addition to the semi-finalists of the DWT, some of the competition’s judges, like Niks Anuman, Erick Lorincz, Simone Caporale and Thanos Prunarus; as well as some brand ambassadors and importers from different countries, were also among the guests.
The distillery’s tour, led by Diplomático’s maestros roneros Tito Cordero and Nelson Hernández, gave them the opportunity to discover and understand the entire production process. From the sugar cane harvesting in the Botucal and Saruro farms, through each step of the process within the distillery, such as fermentation, distillation and blending.
Guests were also able to participate in various conferences animated by the judges of the DWT, concerning topics closely linked to the bartender’s profession. The master class given by the maestro Nelson Hernández included a tasting session with the brand’s entire rum portfolio, an activity that sparked a lot of interaction among the participants.
The visit to Venezuela ended up in the beautiful beaches of the Morrocoy National Park, on Venezuela’s Caribbean coast, where all the guests had the opportunity to share with the Diplomático family.
